Los Angeles, CA Complex

My opinion on Los Angeles, California

Los Angeles may be known as the City of Angels but in my point of view, it is the Queen of My Heart. I visited the city over a year ago and it was one of the best yet humbling experiences I've had in my life. I had my high points at Disneyland and Universal Studios. I've had my low points going on the subway or eating tuna rolls because I didn't have much money for anything else. Overall there is a beauty in the city that seems to only happen in fairy-tales. You can stroll along the Hollywood Walk of Fame and see both hope and despair. Dreams can either be achieved or crushed depending on what your end goal is. Regardless it is a very beautiful city and I would love to visit again or even live there when I obtain my career.

Race For Governor

Antonio Villaraigosa, whose meteoric rise in California politics was viewed as the embodiment of burgeoning Latino political power, is now having to defend his own turf in the city he once led in hopes of advancing in next week’s gubernatorial primary. Multiple polls, including one released Thursday by UC Berkeley, show GOP businessman John Cox edging out the former Los Angeles mayor for second place in the June 5 primary. In California’s primary system, the top two vote-getters move on to the general election, regardless of party. Villaraigosa and his allies are working feverishly to make sure that does not happen. Wealthy charter-school backers launched a $2.3-million ad blitz this week attacking Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, the Democratic front-runner, as an absentee and entitled elected official. Read more here
It looks like California has their hands full when it comes to the upcoming race for governor this June. The votes seem to be pretty split when it comes to the every day citizen giving their two cents on who they're wanting in office. It sounds like Villaraigosa does much more one on one with the every day people to win their hearts which I believe is needed when it comes to politicians.

Spectacles at the Griffith

The Griffith Observatory has always been a popular destination for those visiting California, but after the 2002 renovation, it is better than ever. The Observatory boasts one of the worlds only Tesla coils, one of the biggest in the world. Built in 1910, this Tesla Coil, also known as the Million Volt Oscillator, uses for points of metal and a magnetic ball to shoot a streak of sparks from an assistant's wand. Other than this, visitors can see the new planetarium and space exhibits with over 8 daily exhibitions. Many films were shot here and it boasts a great view of the Hollywood sign.
